If had not been canceled by Covid, Mustang Week would have been the last official event to ever be held at Myrtle Beach Speedway. It would have been historic and heartbreaking at the same time. Once we heard the Speedway may be sold, we went into hyperdrive trying to find a suitable location for a driving event.

We found such a location at the old parking area for the abandoned Freestyle Amusement Park, behind the old Waccamaw Pottery Outlets. We had many conversations, including in-person meetings on-site, about holding our Wednesday event at this location. Please understand that even though an event of this nature takes place on private property, county permits and oversight must be obtained and followed.

We were set to have an incredible day of autocross and drifting demos. We were contacted the last week of May and told, by county officials, that the parking area behind the old Freestyle Park was being rezoned and would no longer be available for driving events. We were then forced to postpone our driving event for and hold a more traditional gathering on Wednesday during Mustang Week.

We are continuing to look for a venue to hold future autocross and drifting demos and hope to bring those events back in We know these events are very special to many, and we wanted everyone to plan accordingly as we roll into September.
